The Northern California Field Hockey Association (NCFHA) is offering a co-ed youth field hockey program in September and October 2010 for boys and girls ages 6 to13 (grades 1 through 8). The aim of this program is to promote this great outdoor team sport by teaching kids basic field hockey skills in a fun and safe environment. Kids will be divided by size, age and ability, and they will be coached by an enthusiastic group of players with many years of field hockey experience. All levels of players are encouraged to come and have fun.
Why: Field Hockey is the second most played sport in the world. Learn team work, improve coordination, and have a lot of fun outdoors.
When: Sundays in September and October 2010, 6 one-hour practice sessions. Please arrive at the field 15 minutes before practice begins. The days below are tentative and the time is still to be determined based on the women’s league schedule, but the final dates and times should be known by Labor Day.
- Sunday,Sept. 12th, Time TBD. The first 15 minutes of this first practice will be completing registration and getting equipment.

Where: Stanford University’s Field Hockey artificial turf field on Pampas Lane (just off Serra Street) in Palo Alto. The field is near the Stanford Day Care Center.
Who: Boys and girls, ages 6 to 13 (grades 1 through 8)
What to bring: Adequate shoes for running, water bottle, mouth guards and shin guards. Mouth guards and shin guards are required for practice. Field hockey sticks will be available to use.
Registration: In order to participate in this program you must register as a member of the US Field Hockey Association. The cost of the 6 session program is $25 plus the cost of membership to the US Field Hockey Association. US Field Hockey Membership is valid for one year and is $25 per child under 12 years old or $40 per child under 19.
There is also an option to pay a $5/drop in fee per session, but a US Field Hockey Association Membership is still required to participate.
